Violet Weed is a seasoned and successful IT Professional with over 35 years of progressive experience in multiple facets of Information Technology and SDLC. Since 2013, she has been the Chief Technology Officer and Quality Governance Leader for a mature startup. For the previous twenty-nine years her primary focus was Software Development and Quality Governance including Software Testing leadership. She is an industry-acknowledged expert in various methodologies including Agile, Six Sigma, RUP and traditional Waterfall. Since 2009 she has been a Certified Scrum Master. She obtained a certification in Six Sigma (CSSBB) in 2006, and holds a number of industry certifications in Network Engineering (Novell, Solaris, Microsoft).

As a Program Manager, Violet has successfully led multiple simultaneous large-scale software development projects in different stages of the SDLC and within different methodologies. She assures that all requirements & artifacts satisfy their regulatory mandates while providing the metrics and information needed for client stakeholders to make educated go/no-go decisions. Violet has managed budgets from US$500K through US$17.5M.

Earlier in her career, Violet also fulfilled the role of Release Manager, scheduling builds and managing build contents, while also overseeing change management processes. She is an experienced and certified Windows/ Solaris / Novell Network Engineer and Oracle / SQL Server DBA. Violet is known for her cogent, focused, user-friendly technical writing and sophisticated Excel statistical analysis. Violet has beena professional content editor for such books as What Color is Your Parachute, The Three Boxes of Life, Somewhere in Time (book) and Special Edition: Using SQL Server 2000, among others. She is also experienced using the following technology tools and techniques: Java II, Microsoft: Visual Basic 4 & SQL Server 7-2000, Visual Studio 2012/2015, SAP to JDE conversion, SGML Template designer, web development using HTML 4 - 5, CSS2 - 3, JavaScript, Snagit V5-11. She has worked in advertising & publishing in varied roles from Traffic Manager, Copywriter, Content-Editor, Layout Artist, and is a Certified Advertising Typographer & Proofreader for Print Materials & Television Media. She is a Lifetime Member of the AFL/CIO Advertising Typographers Union (card withdrawn).

  • Successful Technology Leader for Quality Governance, Software Test, Build & Release and with Clients at the Director levels for:
    • Northeast – Midsized Online Merchant Services Corporation: Principal Consultant: Created QA Department, built & maintained complete QA Lab virtually (VMware server with 22 Vmachines such as WinServer, Linux, Oracle, FTP, etc.) for testing the processing of CP and CNC transactions
    • Northeast/South – Major International Bank: Sr. Director of QA Governance: Manage testing process for private-label credit cards including ownership of Test Schedule, Master Testing Strategy, Test Environment plans, Testing Metrics and test-related Risk Analysis /contingency plan which are provided to all involved parties including business, technology, senior stakeholders
    • Northeast/Southeast – Large Insurance Corporation: Director of QA: Successfully directed Testing teams (Assurance & Acceptance), managed a $5M testing budget and worked collaboratively with matrix-based business, technology teams for conversion project (mainframe to dotNet) for billing, shipping and receiving.
    • Southeast – Largest Datamart Corporation in the World: Sr. Director of QA: Reported directly to the CEO. Responsibilities included R&D, competitive business analysis, technology assessment, prototyping lab, partnering, planning, and architecture standards. She is also responsible for guiding / approving risk contingency/mitigation plans, for frontend / mainframe backend for North/South America and EU-based banking and datamining clients. Software Development & Quality Oversight for 500 internal employees local and global using SAP & IQ/IQ DataMart, ColdFusion & C++, Joomla for Content Management.
    • Midwest – National very large Banking Technology Center:
      • QA Auditor & Improvement: Wholesale Insurance: Perform software quality gap analysis for multiple existing applications, recommended Quality Program(s) to close gaps, provide high-level business case, and Activity-Based Costing estimates for remediation efforts. Report directly to very senior stakeholder.
        Sr. Program Manager in the QA Space: Wholesale Mortgage/Home Equity: Provide QA Project Management Oversight and matrix-based team scheduling / mentoring and meeting facilitation for multiple projects in various stages of SDLC and across multiple quarterly releases. Responsible for all testing activities from start through closure for projects ranging from transaction processing, fraud management and billing/payment services. Manage, prepare and deliver Project Status Reports as well as provide defect management, escalation and closure for up to nine simultaneous major projects across multiple releases. All projects completed successfully within Budgetary & Schedule constraints.
